This water-loving plant grows along the banks of rivers and streams throughout the Amazon Basin, including regions of Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, and Bolivia. Reaching a height of 4–6 meters, Bobinsana is often associated with river spirits and is affectionately referred to as a “mermaid” plant in local mythology.
Known for its fluffy pink blossoms and the reddish gum extracted from its trunk, Bobinsana has long been a part of traditional Amazonian culture. It is considered a “plant teacher” in ceremonial contexts, symbolizing emotional resilience, patience, and the gentle strength of the heart. Often connected to themes of loss, healing, and unconditional love, it is said to support emotional balance and inner endurance.
In traditional practices, Bobinsana is associated with the heart and is thought to help release stagnant energies connected to grief and sorrow. Symbolically, the plant reflects the flowing yet steady nature of river currents—teaching balance, flexibility, and spiritual strength during life's emotional tides.
