Pink Lotus (Nelumbo Nucifera): Unlike the Red and Blue Lotus, which are actually water lilies, only colloquially called lotuses, the Pink Lotus is actually a lotus, so its effects are slightly different. It is significantly milder and can be used even on small children (in Ayurveda, lotus tea is even used to help babies with diarrhea).
Used in Ayurveda and Chinese medicine to treat diarrhoea, colds and bleeding disorders, women's problems (especially those that cause a lot of discharge throughout the cycle or heavy menstrual bleeding), fertility issues and menopause symptoms, help regulate cholesterol and blood sugar, help the digestive system.
Like the Blue Egyptian Lotus, it has a calming effect, helps to relax, fall asleep, meditate, as well as in conscious dreaming, inspiration, creativity. The effects are a bit milder, so while we wouldn't recommend drinking Blue Lotus right before driving or any activities requiring brain concentration, Pink Lotus can be used more universally. Lotus is the flower of the Goddess, so on an energetic level it can help connect with the energy of the Mother Goddess (Kuan Yin, Lakshmi, etc.)
Instructions for Lotus Tea:
Boil a good pinch of flowers in a pot of water until the water boils, then reduce the heat and boil for another 3 minutes. Then let sit until it reaches drinkable temperature
Alternatively, simply pour boiling water into a teapot/large mug and allow the tea to infuse after adding the petals. Drink the cup and you can fill it with hot water 2-3 more times using the same petals.
