These vibrant dried hibiscus petals—also known as roselle or karkade—are prized for their deep red color and bold, tangy flavor. Sourced from Hibiscus sabdariffa, they are a beloved staple in herbal tea traditions around the world.
Enjoyed both hot and cold, hibiscus tea is naturally caffeine-free and can be sweetened with honey or paired with citrus for a refreshing, antioxidant-rich infusion. In many cultures, it's also used in wellness rituals, body care preparations, and even natural dye work.
Preparation
- Hot tea: Pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1 tablespoon of dried hibiscus petals. Steep for 5–10 minutes. Strain and enjoy with honey and lemon if desired.
- Cold tea: Combine 1/4 cup of dried petals with 1 liter of cold water. Let chill for at least 20 minutes (or overnight) in the fridge. Strain and serve cold.
