Ishpingo is a tree species native to the Amazon rainforest and closely related to cinnamon. The leaves contain natural cinnamaldehyde, the same aromatic compound responsible for cinnamon's scent and flavor. While traditional cinnamon bark can be irritating for some, these leaves are known to be milder in nature.
Historically, this plant has been used in various Amazonian communities for its distinctive fragrance and its role in traditional wellness practices. In cold or rainy seasons, the aroma of its leaves is often appreciated for its warming, comforting effect.
This species is also connected to energetic practices – some traditions describe its warming scent as linked to the solar plexus and sacral energy centers.
